When Fire Meets Snowman

Fire is today’s photo challenge topic.  Tonight was a long night, involving Lacrosse, homework and so much more.  (Children actually want to be FED too… go figure!)  Tomorrow I will be visiting everyone’s site to see the past two pictures.  Catch you on your blogs tomorrow!

Snowmen.  I don’t know what it is about them that captures me so.

In my house, it doesn’t have to be Christmas to have a snowman on display.  I found this cheap little glass cut snowman votive at a Rite Aid, probably for little more than a dollar.  He stays in my living room year round.

On those nights when I need comfort or calm, I light my candles and place him directly in the middle.  Then I look at his glowing flame and smile.

  • Whoa. I almost didn’t see the flame and thought it was the reflection of the flash on the glass. Very cool or hot as the case might be.

  • That is a really nice shot, Katherine.  It sort of looks spooky though.

  • I didn’t quite see the snowman in the mosaic right away –  it’s a cute candle holder.  Nice shot!

  • Nice photo! I took a minute to see the snowman and now I can’t unsee him – isn’t that a little cruel – flame inside of a snowman???

    • Me too.  I didn’t see him until I read the post.  He’s cute!

  • Candles are wonderful aren’t they.  We have cocktails and when we do there is always a candle involved.  Makes me smile too.

    Have a terrific day.  🙂

  • I’ve never been good at these things and I STILL can’t see the snowman. It’s a swell shot of fire, though.

  • Interesting candle holder. I like candle light. That may be odd for a guy, I know. But what can I say. Nothing else, evidently.

  • Oh snap! I love that. So pretty and comforting. Great job, Katherine!

  • Oh, poor snowman! Good thing he seems a little more comfortable around fire than your average snowman.. 😉

There’s something about cut glass and candlelight that’s extremely relaxing. I ought to know, because my parents owned a set of candle shops for many, many years when I was growing up. I must have sold thousands of them. Your picture and post really capture a mood, Katherine.

    I WANT ONE!!!!!

Maybe I’ll free Mr. Snowman in a Bucket and put a candle in him.
    I know–not the same thing…….

Mr. Snowman makes me smile too! Your kids really want food? Dang! Sounds like time for a little mac and cheese or pizza!

  • Great idea. I smiled at the photo. – oh – and I have a snowman thing too.
