When I first created a Twitter account, I didn’t quite GET it. I mean, who CARES what you are doing every second of the day? The famous tweet, “Twitter has changed the way I poop,” brought a whole new meaning to my first Twitter experience.
After tweeting for a bit, I understand the Twitter phenomenon a little more. Yes, there are people who are more than happy to describe what-they-are-doing-at-that-very-moment, but there are also folks who provide valuable information on news, contests and more. Twitter is also an excellent marketing tool for bloggers, companies and organizations. (Of course, don’t forget to follow me at shootmenowblog – leave a comment here and I’ll follow you back !)
I began to search for particular topics that interested me and then followed those people, of course in the hopes they would follow back. From the Outer Banks to sea glass to moms and bloggers, I found hundreds of interesting people and topics. But as you follow more and more folks, the more convoluted your Twitter stream becomes. Furthermore, a lot of those friends just won’t follow you back.
What to do? Go through every person’s Twitter profile to figure out who is following you and who isn’t? The time involved would be far too great for such a task. So guess what I did? Anybody? I created a new website that will show who you are following that is not following you back. PERFECT! And from there, simply check their name and unfollow. You can “select all” or choose friend by friend. The process of being accepted to Twitter’s white list was somewhat difficult, but I was finally given that honor.
So if you have a Twitter account, find out who you are following that is not following you back. Then remove whichever friend you like. And while you are there, I’ve created a few Twitter backgrounds you might like. There will be many more in the future. So little time and so much to do, right? Tweet Tweet!
