There are Things

Day 23 of the WWFC writing challenge asks us to use the subject, “There are things.”  This took me less than two minutes to write.  It is funny how the heart can speak so clearly through written words when it hides all other times.

write from the heart

There Are Things

There are things I dream about.

Things I want to do.

Things I want to be.

But I worry of disapproval.

I fear those who would criticize.

I let those around me run my life.

But it’s my life.  Not theirs.

I hide in the shadow of those in control.

Why can’t I be the person I want to be?

There are things I want to do.

Things I want to be.

Yet I live in fear of those who command.

There are things….

I would be happy if I could do those things….

Wow…and it’s brilliant, Katherine, because I think this something many of us feel at times.

And yes, isn’t it something how sometimes when we go to write something, it just flows?

    Have a super Sunday, girl!

  • Oh Katherine, you can do and be whoever and whatever you want to be. It’s taken a lifetime to begin to understand that what other people think of me is none of my business and doesn’t define me. Hang tough, those words will nibble away at you until you feel the beginnings of freedom.

  • Just do it. You know I think someone said that already.

  • ReformingGeek

    Wow. That is great.

Go forth and do great things, Katherine!

  • This made me want to cry. Others can only exert control over us if we give them permission to do so. Take back your permission, girlfriend. You are a divine child of a Universe that wants nothing more than to love and support you in all your dreams. Believe it!

  • You are the master of your own destiny so take control and do whatever rocks your world.

  • Not sure who to credit the quote to – something along the lines of “You are only limited by your own imagination.” Seize the Day!

  • Such wisdom…I can’t believe that took you less than two minutes to write. Impressive!!!

  • It’s easier said than done, but stay strong, Katherine, and be yourself no matter what others say. Beautifully written.

  • I just want to hug you.

  • Ah, to be able to just be yourself and do those things… lovely, Katherine.
