THE END!

Today is the final day of November’s NaBloPoMo.  I DID IT!  Thirty days of writing and I didn’t skip a beat.

What did I learn about writing a blog post every day?  I learned that a post a day is too much, at least for my writing style.  I like to be inspired.  To embarrass myself in public and be able to write about it.  To be touched by something and tell the story.

Writing for writing’s sake was good practice for me.  Routine is good, especially when it comes to blog posting.  However, daily was just too much for a regular thing.  Furthermore, expecting people to read your blog daily is asking way too much… unless you are Johnny Depp or something.  Or MikeWJ, of course.

I’m glad I participated in this daily writing challenge and I feel it was good for me.  But I didn’t LOVE it.  What I found I LOVE is photo challenges, with a bit of writing in between.

Meleah has a new camera.  CERTAINLY she has a challenge coming soon?  January, say?

I’ve often thought about posting on a schedule, like the amazing Ron does.  There is structure in that, and yet some time for resting as well.  Ron, are you happy you are doing it that way?

Saturday is my birthday.  My gift to myself will be to relax.

happy birthday

Oh, who am I kidding, I’ll probably end up cleaning the house!  Furthermore, my daughter is on the verge of being very sick, meaning I will probably be sick on my birthday.  Life’s little twists and turns!  Either way, it’s time for a little break.  And Lemon Drops have Vitamin C, don’t they?

Now that the challenge is over I can get back to what I love the most.  Reading everyone else’s blogs!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

    *thunderous applause*

You GO, Katherine! I am soooooooo proud of you. Not only for completing the 30-day writing challenge, but for the photo challenge as well! You did AWESOME, so take a bow!

Like you, I find posting everyday too much. Yes, I like posting on a set schedule, but a schedule that’s comfortable for me. Between working, responding to comments and visiting other blogs, I find that posting twice a week works well. It allows my readers time to stop by leisurely throughout the week, without feeling hurried to read and comment. I used to post three times a week, but cut back to two.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!!!!

Enjoy your day tomorrow and I hope you do something special for yourself as well as relax.

Have a great weekend, my friend!

    • Ron, I love the two times a week thing. And with your blog, I always know when you have something new… and speaking of! Off i go!

  • Happy Birthday, a day in advance. I agree about the “everyday posting” being too much for me. I go in waves of when I am inspired and even with my two times a week (usually) it’s hit and miss as to what I have to talk about.

Hope you dodge the nasty germs and stay well.

    • I think two times a week is pretty perfect… with maybe a surprise sprinkled in here or there. Every day was CRAZY!

I gave up posting every day a long time ago. It’s just too hard if you care about the words. For me, anyway. Also, I’m lazy. I barely get out of bed most days. In fact, I’m in bed now. I have underwear on, at least. Sometimes I don’t, and that can be a problem. You know what I mean.

  • You DID it! Congratulations! Happy Birthday! (My! exclamation! point! key! is! stuck!)

Writing & posting every day is something I’ve never aspired to. I’m fairly certain if I wrote all of the crazy shit I think about for others to see, I’d be forcibly institutionalized. Not going back there ever again.

There was a point in time when my blog was all about the writing. When things in my life got difficult and complicated, I moved away from writing for public consumption. Photography has helped me stay grounded to some extent. I miss being able to make words dance but lack the discipline to stick to any kind of routine to get back on track with that.

    Wow–you done GOOD!
And maybe Meleah will present a challenge, maybe not. Maybe YOU could. :-/
Oh, wait…..you’re a challenge in and of itself! 😉
(geeze I’ll hope that crud doesn’t find you……rest, drink lots, eat chocolate–someone told me that worked…)

    • Chocolate, I have NOT have enough chocolate.. that’s the key!!! I loved your singing. It made my day… I played it at least 30 times!!!

  • Congratulations on posting everyday! It is grueling. The most I’ve ever done is 10 consecutive posts. I thought my brain was going to explode.

Happy Birthday! I hope you and your daughter are NOT sick this weekend.

    • She is STILL sick.. fever day five. Antibiotics, steroids, and STILL awful. I can’t wait for her thermometer to read normal! 🙂

  • Boooyah!!

  • And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Im sorry, I know you were home with your sick daughter, but I still hope it was a good day for you.
