Photographer’s Choice: Corolla, North Carolina

This month’s photo blogging theme is “Photographer’s Choice.” How could I not choose Corolla!

  1.  This little guy perched nearby as we washed the salty sand off our feet.

2.  My oldest and my brother decided to try fried mole crabs.  THAT will be a post in the next week or so!

4. We had a beautiful storm this month in Corolla.

5. When an osprey dives for a fish it comes back up and shakes off the water.  Then it carries the fish back to its nest for a fresh meal.  I captured an osprey in mid-shake after catching a tasty fish. In rotating the picture I have changed the situation and now call the picture, “Revenge of the Fish!”

  • All great shots, but I love Revenge of the Fish the best. Brilliant.

    Have a fabulous day. ☺

  • Ha, It took me a bit to figure out the upsy daisy bird.

All great shots!! Looking forward to reading about mole crabs. I have never heard of “mole” crabs. Of course, here in the Midwest we are rather uniformed about marine life.

    • I think people call them sand fleas too. “Tastes like chicken!” 🙂

  • Ron

Katherine…each and every one of these photographs are AWESOME!

Bravo on the dragon fly picture, it’s amazing! Also, the lightening shot….WOW!

The “Revenge of the Fish Shot is just incredible! Looks like something out of National Geographic Magazine!

Well done, my friend! WELL done!

Wishing you a picture perfect week!

    • I really did have a perfect week…. now back to work tomorrow WAHHH!!!!! I always feel bad for the fish the osprey get, but I would also feel bad if an osprey was hungry. The circle of life, right? 🙂
I had house guests from California this weekend in Corolla. We had a huge thunderstorm and you would think money was coming out of the sky. They were mesmerized… took pictures… videos. I had forgotten they never get rain! It was really wonderful seeing a thunderstorm through someone else’s eyes!

    Gorgeous shots!
Love your little trick to turn the tables on the osprey – go for it, fish!!!

  • Lisa

Outstanding photos! I love the dragonfly, lightening and osprey shots! How can anyone go wrong with beach shots?!

  • Love them all! The lightning shot is fantastic. I love storms.

Great set of photos for July. I haven’t seen many dragonflies this year, maybe because there haven’t been many dragonflies around for them to eat? That lightning shot? Absolutely amazing!!

  • Great shots! You’ve actually captured lightening, I never managed to do that.

  • Excellent work! Way to catch the lightning … and the osprey! I haven’t had any lightning shots before… I’ve always missed out. One day, I’ll get it figured!

    Great job!

Beautiful pictures and I love the one of the bird catching food that has been thrown to it as it reminds me of days doing that in Sydney.
