Nude
Published on Friday, April 27, 2012 by

It began with me feeling incredibly bold.  And wanting to be THE one who was brave enough to post a nude self portrait.  Draped, classy with an artistic filter.  Something hinted, nothing showing.  ART.

A Facebook message to Meleah later… can I show it to you?  “Is it porn or art?”  I love what I came up with.  It doesn’t show a thing, yet it’s beautiful.  Just a side shot, from neck to waist.  Draped.  Did I mention the artistic filter?

AAAAAAND NOPE.  Never sent it.  Not posting it.  I wouldn’t mind sharing it.  But I chickened out posting it.

So my amazingly gorgeous nude deco lamp lady is taking my place.  And  I think she does it beautifully!

  • The artistic route, huh?

    Sweeeeet.

I went that route myself. 🙂

  • Nooo, you should have posted it, dammit! Not that I don’t like the lamp lady, but I would have liked you more. 😉

  • If you really like your self portrait, you should have posted it – I mean, we’ve already seen you kiss a fish.  😉    But this is nice – the lighting, colours and setting are really good!

  • I’m sorry you chickened out – but I love this photo too! xoxo

  • You are my hero for even considering it.

    Your lamplit nude is lovely.

  • Now you know that we all want to see the other image. Everyone is being nice about the lamp – which is a lovely photograph, but the truth is – they want the other picture.

Exactly, LaughingMom. Why mention it if you’re not going to post it?

  • Lovely photo, but I wish you had gone with the self portrait.  I know it was gorgeous.

    •  Now Linda, YOU are someone I would send it to!

      • Please do.  I’d love to see it an promise I will not share it with people like Michael.

  • I think the art-deco route worked out just fine. That lamp does some great lighting!

  • MalisaHargrove

I want that lamp! It is beautiful and you made it even more beautiful with the lighting in your photo! Have I mentioned that I want that lamp in all it’s chippy glory? Gorgeous!

  • The fact that you considered is very brave indeed, and the ‘lamp lady’ has managed to get in on the action in spectacular fashion. Crazy shot in that everything feels so lifesize – either I’m fooled or you’ve got a very large ‘lamp lady’ lamp.

Post it for god’s sake! Well, not really god’s sake. But you know what I mean. I’m actually impressed, seriously, that you even ventured into that territory. I considered it, but I’m just too shy. And not super photo-worthy. I try to limit my exposure to the ones who love me enough not to be horrified by it.

As for this photo, I love it. The composition, the soft lighting. I love all things art deco, especially lights and buildings. It’s one of my favorite periods of time for art and architecture.

  • Well, I guess we’ll have to take your word for it and the rest of us will never know. Too bad. Why does that lamp lady look like she has a beard? Is it just me?

  • I feel you!  I’m not sure I could have posted a nude picture of myself either.  Ziva’s sister is very brave!  I like your lamp, by the way.
