Last summer schools of jellyfish seemed to take over Corolla and all of the Outer Banks. We are used to seeing the typical clear moon jellies, but for at least a month we encountered jellyfish of all colors. One afternoon I took out my cell phone and snapped a few shots of some beautiful copper colored jellyfish. That night I posted them on my Outer Banks blog.
A few months later I was surprised to get an email from Coastwatch Magazine, asking if they could use one of my jellyfish pictures. I was more than happy to oblige, appreciating the good work they do for the coast.
I have just now received copies of the magazine and can’t believe how beautiful the picture turned out! I took this jellyfish picture blindly with my cell phone. The sunlight overhead blacked out my screen, making it impossible to set up a good shot.

MY JELLYFISH PICTURE
That was the mature writer describing the magazine shot above. THIS is the REAL me upon opening the magazine and seeing my name in print:
“NO WAY! WOW! Check it OUT! It’s Beautiful! COOL! I’m PUBLISHED! WOOO HOOOOO!”
I was probably jumping up and down while I said this.
I am not ashamed.
