Halloween 2012
Published on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 by

My favorite holiday has come and gone.  This year it was incredibly different, and yet somewhat the same.  I knew the day was coming, but when it arrived, it was indeed a bitter pill to swallow.

For this year, I had no one to walk around the neighborhood.  This was the year my final trick-or-treater went off on her own with her friends.  Enter… SAD FACE.

Refusing to miss out on the fun, I grabbed my new puppy along with my Mom and off we walked to The Pirate House.  Every year it is spectacular.  Every year it draws crowds.  Every year it brings the neighborhood together.  For me, it was a bit of normalcy amidst the unnerving change.

Tonight I had to cut yet another apron string.  You raise them to leave you, making parenting the hardest job in the world. Fortunately, tonight there was chocolate to ease the ache of letting go.

Happy Halloween!

Ten points if you can tell me what the bottom pumpkin symbol means.  One mother who came to the door actually got it!

Great pics- I never really got into Halloween very much- but my kids enjoyed it- None of them are home anymore os it really is a non holiday for me now.

Awesome photos, Katherine! WOW…the decorations on The Pirate House are truly spectacular. It looks like Pirates of the Caribbean in Disneyworld!

    Happy Halloween!

  • Holy Happy Halloween, indeed! XOXOXOX

Your neighbors are insane. But in a good way. I remember the first year none of our kids needed us to go trick of treating with them. I was sad. Not because I missed them, but because it meant less candy for me. I did manage to extend my time a bit, though, by taking my nieces out. Now they don’t go anymore, either. I’m probably going to lose weight.

That symbol looks familiar, but I can’t place it. Yet. Don’t tell me.
