My favorite holiday has come and gone. This year it was incredibly different, and yet somewhat the same. I knew the day was coming, but when it arrived, it was indeed a bitter pill to swallow.
For this year, I had no one to walk around the neighborhood. This was the year my final trick-or-treater went off on her own with her friends. Enter… SAD FACE.
Refusing to miss out on the fun, I grabbed my new puppy along with my Mom and off we walked to The Pirate House. Every year it is spectacular. Every year it draws crowds. Every year it brings the neighborhood together. For me, it was a bit of normalcy amidst the unnerving change.
Tonight I had to cut yet another apron string. You raise them to leave you, making parenting the hardest job in the world. Fortunately, tonight there was chocolate to ease the ache of letting go.
Happy Halloween!
Ten points if you can tell me what the bottom pumpkin symbol means. One mother who came to the door actually got it!
