Brussels Sprouts are packed with Vitamin C and other healthful ingredients. But to apes, they sure pack a punch in another way!
In Dudley, the Bornean orang-utans often enjoy local veggies in harvest, donated by nearby markets. Recently, they have been enjoying fresh Brussels Sprouts. So much so, that they are tooting their horns in celebration of the Brussels Sprout!
Apparently, as a zookeeper put it – “Gorillas are already a bit windy.” But add Brussels Sprouts to their diet and they are a regular symphony of… well, farts!
Not only are they loud, but they are quite odoriferous. So much so that zoo patrons began to complain of the horrible stench emanating from the orang-utan habitat.
Honestly, if my children knew of this story, the gorilla area would be the FIRST place they visited. And if they were impressed enough, they might even try a Brussels Sprout the next time I serve them. After all, in my house the children’s rule seems to be, “He (or she!) who makes the most wind is the winner!”
