When Your Brother Is In Need

Some moments happen so fast you just can’t get them on film. And that’s OK. Because the story of today’s special moment will be passed down through many generations to come.

This afternoon my oldest called from his bathroom, “Mom! Will you ask Mike to get me some TP?” Like the good younger brother he is, my other son flew through the house to rescue his stranded brother.

I busied myself with other things until I was stopped by Mike in the hall. With a huge grin on his face, he held out something in his hands to show me. Since I don’t have a a picture I chose to draw my own rendition of what I saw:

toilet paper

It took me a moment to put it all together. My son had run in to the kitchen and constructed a paper towel platform holding a standup paper camp fire and yes… a paper towel TP held together with an actual staple.

I watched as he approached the bathroom door, announced he was not looking and entered to present his unique construction. There was a moment of complete silence and then I heard an incredulous, “Mike, you SUCK.” This exclaimation was followed by much snorting and laughter.

Michael then flew past me, ran to the garage and retrieved what my oldest boy desperately needed.

I haven’t laughed that hard in months.  I LOVE my boys.

    • I keep remembering and laughing… he is so spontaneous.. he is my actor who is pursuing a physics degree. Go figure!

  • A boy after my own heart.

  • Bwahahahahahaha. Now that was funny and you’ll be laughing about this often. All of you will.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. 🙂

    • I told my mother about it this weekend and later heard her laughing on the deck. She came in and said she had randomly remembered the story and was laughing out loud!

  • That was very clever! Thankfully, it was received with humor, and follow up by the real thing. Never a dull moment at your house. 🙂

    • I think the funniest part was the moment of silence as my son processed the meaning of the TP. I still laugh about it!

I can totally picture this and am cracking up long distance!

    • Heather, I keep remembering it and laughing out loud. It was HYSTERICAL!
