Now.  Imagine my anguish when I found myself behind a moving truck jammed with boxes, doors actively flying in the wind.  If only I had a…. WAIT!  MY FLIP!  I HAVE MY FLIP!

Do you remember the scene when Gene Wilder’s Willy Wonka was watching Augustus stuck in the tube?  Quietly, he noted, “The suspense is terrible.  I hope it’ll last.”  Indeed.

The scene unfolds.

Drivers surrounding the truck move to the right lane, ensuring no one gets hurt.  The doors fly open and shut, keeping suspense to a maximum.  And the boxes?  Piled high, just waiting for a bump to send them flying.

You don’t want anything to happen.  But-Yet-You-Do.  Because you, a blogger, have a video camera.  And there is about to be a very big fail.

Notice the car near you attempting to turn left.  It slowly inches behind the truck.  You can hardly catch your breath.  You are overjoyed when the car clears danger’s path, anticipating the boxes will tumble out just seconds after that suspenseful moment.

Sadly, because you are Katherine, and you have your video camera recording LIVE, nothing happens.  But you post the video anyways.  Because as Gene Wilder beautifully explained, “The suspense is terrible.  I hope it’ll last!”

Either way, things are bad over here.  Very… Very… VERY BAD.  I’m afraid we have been…. ZOMBIFIED.

When we were dog sitting this weekend, my daughter showed me Meena’s latest trick.  I couldn’t stop laughing.  While my dog is eating jewelry and depositing it later in the back yard, their dog is racking up the tricks.  Story of my life.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, BANG! Old Yeller!

You might recall my December declaration of love for one of the most amazing men I have ever laid eyes on.  I’m afraid I have shocking news for you.  SOMEONE IS MAKING FUN OF MY MAN!

You can just imagine my horror when my son showed me this Lord of the Rings Youtube video.  MY MAN.  MADE FUN OF.  ON THE INTERNET.

Oh the horror.

OK, I’ll admit it.  When I saw this video I laughed so hard that milk came out of my nose.  Milk I had enjoyed in third grade.  Perhaps my Russian singer has a sense of humor.  Forgive me love.  Forgive me.

Sure, I remember flag football as a kid.  Although I was horrible in sports and was the last to be picked for everything , flag football was something I didn’t necessarily dread.  The guys playing at the field house looked like the aging jocks from high school.  So this is where they end up!  Some have remained amazingly fit while others are sporting expanding guts paired with hairier body parts.  Either way, these guys are out there and having fun.

I want to play flag football!  At 45, I absolutely want to get out on that field and play.  Unfortunately, even if they have an aging ladies team – WITH expanding guts paired with hairier body parts – my schedule would not allow for such folly.  But in my head, I know I could play, and play well!

When one of the football games was over, a team huddled on the sidelines to discuss the game.

“It’s OK!  It’s OK!  This was only our first game!  We’ll do better next time! “

In unison:  “Yea!  Yea!”

“We are a new team and we just have to play a bit more together.  We’ll get them next time!”

“Yea!  Yea!”

“Now, let’s go out and drink some beer!”

Weekend warriorism is alive and well and living in Hampton Roads.  And I think that’s cool!

I came across this arcade game at a local sports complex.  The Titanic.  Complete with sinking ship.

As the Titanic passengers were drowning, I’m sure they were not imagining the new arcade game that could come out of the unfortunate situation.

What will be out there 100 years from now?  I can picture a few things in the middle of that game, but I am NOT going to go there.

When I saw this game I had to stop and watch.  It was kind of like a terrible accident that you can’t turn away from.

So… Titanic Arcade Game.  Sinking ship.  Is it just me?
