To the wonderful writers in this 30-day blog writing challenge, I apologize. Because this one was just too easy for me, making today a bit unfair. I promise, I will struggle for the rest of the month. TRUST ME.
It has finally happened. I now have a child that can drive.
He didn’t get his learner’s permit until he was 17. Yet there still was no rush to drive. All of his hours were completed by 18, leaving “behind the wheel” as his final step. With graduation in sight, he scheduled himself and began his three two-hour sessions.
Friday was his last session. I sat in the parking lot waiting for him to arrive, crossing my fingers and my toes. Did he pass? Did he fail?
When they pulled in and he got out, his head was down. Time stood still as he walked towards me, step by step by step. And then he looked up. And grinned ear to ear. And literally kicked his heels in the air.
It was a moment I will remember for the rest of my life.
I stole this list of writing participants. I mean I borrowed it. If you aren’t on it, will you please let me know in your comment so I can add you? THANKS! Mike and Nicky, Cheryl, If I Were God, Laughing Mom, Linda M, Malisa, MikeWJ, Sandra, Babs, Leeuna, Still Unfinished, PJ, Jayne, Shawn , Nonamedufus and Ziva.
*DISCLAIMER Tonight my son graduates from high school! I won’t be able to touch a computer until Tuesday. Then, I will come see all of your posts for both days. Please excuse the fact I cannot see your post today! Now… on to celebrate!
