Girly. Or Not?

A sneak peak of my recent brush with Urban Exploring.  My daughter and I finally stopped at a broken down abandoned antique building that might be torn down soon.  If we didn’t have the dog with us, we would have been SO IN THERE.  This is a representation of today’s photo challenge subject “Girly.”

antique dolls

mom blog

  • Quite girly. Dolly on left needs a bath.

  • Makes me feel old when I see dolls that are considered antique and hadn’t been invented when I was a child 🙂

    • Babs I know what you mean! I see toys I played with all the time in antique stores!

  • A little bit scary, a little bit dirty and very girly. I love it. 🙂

    • It’s what I strive to be… scary, dirty and girly ha ha ha!

  • Was is it about old dolls that makes somethings sweet scary? I love the find, however, and a great, unique turn on the theme.
    🙂
    Traci

    • They are all girly girly but covered in dirt in an abandoned building…yup, that was kinda creepy on my list. But sweet too! 🙂

  • Ron

HAHAHHAHAHA! Katherine, I adore you because you and I have the same sense of humor!

AWESOME capture for this theme!! LOVE it!!!!

    • Ron, you are so awesome for visiting everyone’s pictures! I want to meet you in person so bad… you are totally awesome!

  • Um …. that’s way more creepy than girly!!!

PS: you are sofa king funny!

  • ReformingGeek

Oh my. I’m thinking Toy Toy 3. Poor wittle dolly. It looks like big sister has been hogging all the food!

    Great photo, though.

  • I think Barbie is girly-er. But nice try.

    • Yea, I wish I had felt better and could bring fake barbie in. She will make her debut soon! Maybe NSFW ha ha!

  • Great finds! My mom is something of an expert on old dolls and she’d know in a glance if they were worth salvaging and cleaning up. Except for the stick arm, the one on my left looks to be something from the 60s (is it hard plastic with eyes that blink?) and the other might be from the 80s (you might think it’s older, but the style isn’t and I think it’s pretty well sun-faded).

    • I felt like this was their home… I would not be able to take them! Unless there was one that was obviously very old… then I would save her. There is an ORGAN in there…. and a room FILLED WITH BOOKS! I could spend an entire day in there!

      • An organ and a room filled with books? Holy cow! Based on the condition of the dolls, I’m guessing a lot of that stuff wasn’t salvageable. Damn shame but I’d still be all over those books just in case. 😉

  • Wait, if you didn’t have the dog with you, you WOULD have been in there? Are you mad, woman?!

This is an awesome photo, Katherine… in a “The Hills Have Eyes” kind of way.

    • Oh yes, we SO would have been in there!!!! With a bag to throw a few things in!

  • Wow! That is such a haunting shot.

  • Jackal

Obviously somebody’s love at one point. To me, they may come alive and be horror dolls !! BWawawawawawa – oops I scared myself.

    • You know, it never occurred to me to take them. The place just seemed to be their home.

  • WHAT? NO FAKE BARBIE?????? I was sure she’d make a cameo appearance today!

    • I am still soooooo sick….. She can’t come out of hiding until I am better. But soon!!!!’

      • Still? I’m so sorry you’re having such a hard time kicking this thing! You are hereby absolved of bringing out fake Barbie until you are really and truly feeling better! Hugs!

        • I gotta pick just the right theme…. I’ll look tonight and see what she what she wants to do!

  • mikewjattoomanymornings

I can’t believe you didn’t go in there. I’m tempted to fly out and explore it myself. Is it locked up?

  • I’d have taken the dog in but then you’ve seen my blog. That shouldn’t come as a surprise.

    • Nora… the place is pretty old and run down…. there is broken glass EVERYWHERE. I was so scared he would cut a paw… plus to go upstairs I would have had to check each step before my daughter went up. There just was no way to do that with Moon. It really was torn up in there with rotten floors and glass. I need to get him doggie exploring boots!

  • Girly AND creepy!
